Regional Cyberteams

More than a dozen ERN members are collaborating on NSF-sponsored initiatives designed to meet the need for Research Computing Facilitators (support staff who help faculty make the best use of available computing resources) at small and mid-sized institutions.

Northeast Cyberteam

The Northeast Cyberteam is an NSF-sponsored collaborative effort led by the Massachusetts Green High Performance Computing Center (MGHPCC), University of Maine, University of New Hampshire, University of Vermont, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute. It provides support to faculty at small and mid-sized institutions by launching projects that pair a student-facilitator with a mentor who has relevant domain expertise to address immediate needs. Concurrently, the program has developed a self-service learning toolkit to provide timely access to information when it is needed.

CAREERS for Research Computing Facilitators

CAREERS is a more recent initiative that builds on the experience of the Northeast Cyberteam. The program is is an NSF-sponsored collaborative effort led by the Yale Center for Research Computing, working with Rutgers University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, University of Rhode Island, Penn State University, University of Delaware, and the Massachusetts Green High Performance Computing Center. In addition to projects that pair mentors with student-facilitators, CAREERS is also offering direct support by professional Research Computing Facilitators.
